 PCEHS joins 3-day Virtual Interactive Celebration of Earth Day 2021

Margarita Jaice M. Trinidad (Student-Journalist) and  Jonel P. Siervo (Student-Journalist) from Pasay City East High School joined the Department of Education (DepEd) the 3-Day Virtual Interactive Celebration of the Earth Day 2021 with the theme “PINASiglang Mundo”, aimed to reinforce the “Makakalikasan” core value among learners and stakeholders, April 20-22,2021.

During the 3-Day celebration, Trinidad was assigned to write news article about a panel discussion on schools’ best practices focusing on the elimination of the single-use plastics in schools and in the community held last April 21, 2021.

Trinidad and Siervo, Grade 10 students highlighted in their news the “Tumbler Challenge that Changed Me”, “Good Practices in Ecological Waste Management”, and  “Zero-Waste School” ,   shared by Anna Lisa R. Villuanueva, Principal of Jose P. Rizal Elementary School, SDO Dasmariñas; Sherry T. Rodriguez, Langkaan Elementary School Principal, SDO Dasmariñas, and , Cristeta S. Uy, Principal III of  San Vicente Integrated High School, SDO San Pablo.

The Earth Day Online Celebration aims to promote environmental protection among stakeholders, encourage more learners and personnel to be engaged in environmental actions, and provide a platform for learners to showcase their commitment to Earth restoration.

Usec. Josephine Maribojoc, DepEd Undersecretary for Legal Affairs appealed to everyone to restore  balance, harmony, and order in nature. She reiterated that people must learn about the world’s ecosystem to improve farming practices, restore wildlife and reduce ocean plastics apart from  promoting sustainable gardening in schools that give life lessons learned in the classroom, showing acts of caring about nature, fully committing oneself in respecting the laws of nature which govern all humanity and restoring  the Earth as rational beings of nature. She ended by emphasizing how to foster love for humanity, for nature as the human race survives could save the planet.

The National Earth Day Online Celebration was organized by the Bureau of Learner Support Services – Youth Formation Division (BLSS-YFD), Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS), DepEd Region IV-A, and Schools Division Office (SDO) of Dasmariñas City with the support of the Public Affairs Service (PAS) and in partnership with World Wildlife Fund for Nature Philippines, Greenpeace Philippines, City of Dasmariñas and Dasca Fiber Blaze. PCEHS marks the 123rd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence

Pasay City East High School (PCEHS), successfully commemorated and participated in the Virtual Symposium as a tribute to the 123rd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with a diplomatic reception on June 11, 2021, with the  theme , “Kalayaan 2021: Diwa ng Kalayaan sa Pagkakaisa at Paghilom ng Bayan (Spirit of Freedom in Unity and National Healing)” held live at the Division of Pasay City Facebook page from 1PM to 5PM.

This annual event was spawned with a heart-warming greeting reception by Dr. Loreta B. Torrecampo, CESO V, Schools Division Schools Superintendent of the Division of City School, Pasay.

Torrecampo  encouraged the guests, including the officials of the local government, stakeholders, teachers, parents, and learners to be part of the online celebration of Independence Day.

In his opening remarks, Department of Education (DepEd) National Capital Region (NCR), Regional Director Mr. Wilfredo E. Cabral emphasized, “Mahigit na pong isang taon na nakaranas ng pagsubok dahil sa pandemiya. Subalit, ang simposyum na ito, sa ating paniniwala, ang magbibigay ng higit na kaalaman at dagdag na pagbabalik-tanaw sa ating mga kakayahan bilang isang Pilipino.”.

Moreover, Secretary Briones urged the Filipinos to be glad that even in symposium we are still able to appreciate the essence of independence in the time of pandemic.,

Briones believes that celebrations and reflections on independence should not be limited only to the usual and ritual flag raising but should include discussions, debates, and reflections among Filipinos about independence.

The virtual symposium was followed by a serenade and soul-calming makabayan song entitled “Dakilang Lahi” performed by Junbeth B. Santos, a MAPEH teacher  from Pres. Corazon “Cory” C. Aquino NHS.

Xiao Chua, Professor from De La Salle University under the Department of History discussed “TAGUMPAY NG BAYAN: Kwento ng Kasarinlan Matapos ang 300-Taong Kolonyalismo,” followed by a panel discussion on “Mga Batas, Alituntunin at iba pang Karagdagang Kaalaman ukol sa Araw ng Kalayaan” led by Tonisito M.C. Umali, Deputy Secretary Legislative Affairs, External Partnerships and Project Management Service, before the Round Table Discussion about the  Philippine heroes stepping up to the plate and Independence Day commemoration by Leuvina D. Erni , EPS of Araling Panlipunan, Pasay Division and Dr. Felina P. Patagan, Principal 1 of PCEHS.

 

The celebration ended with a farewell remarks by Edel B. Carag, Director III, External Partnership Service, “Just a simple recall from what we heard sa mga mensahe ng ating mga panauhin at sa ating mga mahuhusay na tagapagsalita, Mr. Toni and Professor Xiao Chua, the traditional Philippine independence after being colonized by many nations in the past centuries is one of the most treasured milestones the we Filipinos achieve in the history,” she said heartwarmingly.

PCEHS bags multiple awards in Science and Technology Fair 2021

Highlighting the role of Science and Research in addressing present global challenges and issues, Pasay City East High School actively engaged in the 3-day virtual National Science and Technology Fair (NSTF) for School Year 2020-2021 of the Department of Education (DepEd).

With the theme, “Agham, Pananaliksik, at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Matatag at Maunlad na Pamayanan,” the learners were able to showcase their resiliency, innovation, and creativity amidst global crisis through virtual Science fair and competitions.

There were several categories under “SCIEN-TERRIFIC AMIDST PANDEMIC” namely: Online Sci-Quiz Bee from grades 7-11, Digital Poster Making Contest, Science Concept QuickShare, and On the S.P.P.O.T. (On the Science Processes and Practices On-Site Test).

Contestants from PCEHS competed against participants from the public and private high schools in the Division of Pasay from June 3, 4, and 7, 2021 on separate google meet per category.

The winners and their trainers were awarded via Facebook Live last June 7, 2021.

Mendoza as Coach (1st Place, Popular Vote; 3rd Place Final Stage- Science Concept Quickshare, Junior High School category which  garnered 2.4k likes and 11k shares on the video perception of the Chaos Theory ; Ronian M. Pasay Division Palaro puts PCEHS team in the lead Division Palaro placed Pasay City East High School in the lead to the 2019 NCR Palaro, February 24- March 1, 2019 in Marikina City. PCEHS joins the  National    Earthquake Drill                                                              

Holding on to its strong conviction to boost disaster awareness and preparedness  in the school and the community, PCEHS joined the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill ( NSED ) held Thursday, February 21, 2019 at exactly 2 pm.

Mr. Peter R. Cannon , Principal III,  spearheaded the drill  together with the  stakeholders led by the teachers and the DRRM coordinator , Edgardo Templanza, Teacher II.

Students showed cooperation and participation in the whole duration of the drill which proved  PCEHS’ commitment to instill  familiarization and responsibility among students, teachers, administrators  on what to do before, during, and after an earthquake.

The NESD aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the  contingency plans and protocols of the government  in relation to earthquake eventualities.-by HGDimafelix

 “Top Scorers” , Mathletes qualify in the 2019 MMC Regional Individual Competition

Mathletes of Pasay City East High School were qualified to compete for category A in the Regional Individual Finals of “2019 Metrobank – MTAP Deped Math Challenge “ held on February 2, 2019 at Cecilio Apostol Elem. School, Caloocan City.

With the theme,” Mathematics for International Competitiveness”, finalists from Grade 7 Narra , Jeeros Karl L. Sabio and Francesca Nicole E. Dulva ; from Grade 8 Mangga, Numan Alan C. Alam; from Grade 9 Sampaguita , Jason D. Corpuz and Grade 10 Rizal Christine Ray L. Early registration for SY 2019-2020 opens

          Pursuant to DepEd Order (DO) No. 3, s.2018, otherwise known as the “Basic Education Enrolment Policy”, early registration for SY 2019-2020  opened from January 26 to February 22, 2019 in PCEHS aiming at consolidating  various issuances on enrolment, and institutionalizing a basic education enrollment process for the incoming Grade 7 and Grade 11 learners.

The month long initiative aims to ensure that all new entrants are registered for School Year 2019 – 2020 , and to help the  Department to better address and prepare for possible issues and concerns during the enrolment proper.

The registration also ensures that out-of-school youth in the community are also located , identified , and  encouraged to go back  through the formal system, Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM), or the Alternative Learning System (ALS),

          Mr. Peter R. Cannon , Jr., Principal III ,designated  early registration desks in the school premises  manned by teachers from different levels  tasked to handle the registration.

PCEHS bags awards in MTAP

Eastians Math Wizards bagged awards in (MTAP) Mathematics Teachers Association of the Phils. Division Elimination at Pasay City South High School last January 18,2019.

Out of five secondary schools in the Division of Pasay, Grade 7 and 9 contestants ranked 1st while Grade 8 and 10 ranked 2nd in Category A .

The winning team competed in the MTAP Division Team Orals against the teams from the Division of Paranaque, Muntinlupa , Taguig/Pateros and Las Pinas last Feb. 8, 2019 at Muntinlupa Science High School.

Individual winners Christine Ray L. Givertz , Grade 10 Rizal ; Jason D. Corpuz , Grade 9 Sampaguita ; Alam Numan Grade 10 ; Jeeros Karl Sabio and Francesca Nicole Dulva , Grade 7 Narra were qualified for the MTAP Regional Written Competition .By Cyren Gongay ,G-10 Rizal .

PCEHS Christmas 2017 : A Celebration of Giving, Loving and Sharing

Faculty Club and Employees Association of Pasay City East High School headed by its president, Ms. Floresa Sy, celebrated Christmas 2017  last December 21,2017 with the theme: East Giving, East Loving and East Sharing.

The celebration was well attended by the teachers from the Junior and Senior High School Department, the  school staff, the administrators together with Mr. Peter R. Cannon , Jr, Principal III.

 Checking of attendance by each department was in the form of a yell  or song and dance interpretation which made the gathering  a lovely and lively fun-filled Christmas event.

 Hosted by Mr. Brian Cipriano and Mrs. Helen G. Dimafelix, club’s Auditor and Secretary respectively, the  gathering was  highlighted by the raffle of prizes and  the parlor games.

Mr. Cannon was in his lively self while hosting the  parlor game he called “Meron o Wala” as well as the “Bring Me’’ which turned the house with so much fun and  laughter as Mr. Ruell Santero , Assistan Principal , of Senior High School, showed his funny lovable side.

 The Faculty Club  will  always be grateful for  the time and efforts of the teachers/singers from the different departments who sincerely joined the caroling activities done in the evenings of Fridays and Saturdays  to raise funds for  the Christmas event.

 The donations of gifts and cash were overflowing from the good people around who truly loved and cared for the cause of PCEHS and the teachers and employees.

 

PCEHS wins  1st Place in the 2017  Regional  Brigada Eskwela Best Implementing School By:HGDimafelix Pasay City East High School won First Place in the recently concluded Regional Awarding of 2017 Brigada Eskwela Best Implementing School , Dec 4 ,2017 at DepEd NCR Regional Office, Quezon City. Mr. Peter R. Cannon ,Jr. Principal III of PCEHS together with Mr. Reygienald P. Villacorta, Diviaion of Pasay Brigada Eskwela Coordinator , Mr. Bello T. Camacho, Head VI, Filipino Dept. and BE School Coordibator, and Mr. Ed Templanza, PCEHS ‘s NDRRMC Coordinator attended the  National Brigada Eskwela Best Implementing School Awarding Ceremony   last  December 15, 2017 at City Coliseum, Puerto Prinsesa Palawan. Cannon was so proud of this achievement as he shared such award to all of those who were part of the success of Brigada Eskwela especially  the teachers, Department Heads and the schools’s Stakeholders.  “Sana mamaintain natin ang pagkilalalang ito bilang Best Implementer ng BE . Maging tuloy-tuloy na sana na maging the best tayo sa Brigada Eskwela. Basta tulong – tulong tayo makakamit natin lahat,” exclaimed Mr. Cannon .

Intramurals 2017 officially opens By: HGDimafelix Intramurals 2017 opened officially with the parade of athletes last November 23, 2017 with the theme “Atletang Pilipino para mapayapa at maunlad na pagbabago”.  Present in the opening ceremony were Mr. Peter R. Cannon Jr. ,Principal  III of PCEHS, Mr. Rouel Santero, Asst. Principal, SHS , the department heads MAPEH teachers , subject teachers and all the players of the different sports categories. The opening program was highlighted by the Ceremonial Torch Lighting, Hoisting of the Flag and the Oath of sportsmanship. Mrs. Consolacion Lao, Head Teacher III of MAPEH Department congratulated all the players and coaches in their efforts to do better this time in the sports competion. Mr. Peter R. Cannon Jr. was inspiring in his message about sportsmanship, camaraderie and rapport among co-athletes and opponent- athletes from other schools considering that the 2017 Division Meet is on its way. The opening ceremony turned colorful as all the Grade levels performed in the different dance sports . Grade 7 students showed their stamina and agility in their Arnis inspired dance moves, Grade 8 students colorfully swayed to the tune of the Japanese dance, Grade 9 students were all energetic in their 70’s dance number and the Grade 10 students in their hip-hop dance moves.

SOCCA 2017 :  “BATA, Iligtas sa Droga”

“Sa laban sa droga, dapat magtulungan lahat ,mula sa mga magulang hanggang sa ibat’t ibang mga sangay ng pamahalaan. Iligtas natin sa kapahamakan ang ating mga kabataan.”  Hon. Antonino G. Calixto , City Mayor of Pasay encouraged the people of the city present during the 15th SOCCA to help in the fight against illegal drugs ; all parents together with the different agencies in the City of Pasay must unite to protect and save the youth from the dangers of drugs. A video presentation of the different achievements of Pasay  in education, health services ,was shown as the doting mayor acknowledged and thanked  all the people involved in the SOCCA and the accomplishments of all the goals for people of Pasay. The mayor said,“Ito ay patunay sa inyong pagtitiwala sa aking pamumuno sa ating lunsod at sa aking paglilingkod ng tapat sa ating mga kababayan” as he emphasized the ill effects of drugs  not just in the physical but also in the mental and psychological and psychosocial aspects. The mayor believed that the fight  of the government of Pasay against drugs will lead to a drug-free Pasay as the city make sure that  the children are given  enough education about the bad effects of drugs with the help of the education sector “Sa laban sa droga, dapat magtulungan lahat mula sa mga magulang hanggang sa ibat’t ibang mga sangay ng pamahalaan. Iligtas natin sa kapahamakan an ating mga kabataan.” Magsimula tayo sa ating mga tahanan, Calixto reiterated.         He also emphasized that the city government will not get tired of doing its obligation in giving full support  to the children of Pasay. He appealed to all parents to love their children because such will lead to a one hundred percent Drug-Free Pasay. Congresswoman Emi Calixto- Rubiano mentioned in her speech how the young people were used in the illegal drug trade as she congratulated Hon. Mayor  CalixtoIn  in leading Pasay as it gives preferential attention and care on the welfare of  the children stating that the  City government has been consistently lauded by the country’s representatives in its commitment to promote child’s rights and welfare. The SOCCA 2017 opened with a prayer by Dyla Ray A. Cairo, SPG – Division Federation President from Juan Sumulong  Elem. School followed by the singing of the NationalAnthem and Pasay March led by PCWHS Anklung Ensemble preceded by the  welcome remarks from Ma. Rosalinda Orobia, PSWDD Dept. Head, The celebration became lively and colorful with the showcase of the singing and dancing  talents of  the children from PSWDD Day Care Children, Kindergarten Pupils from Jose Rizal Elem School, T . Paez Cutee Dancers ,  Children from Social Dev’t. Center of PSWDD and the selected students from Pasay City East High School.

Pasay Celebrates “Boys and Girls Week”

City of Pasay celebrated Boys and Girls Week last November 27-December 4, 2017  where student-representatives from the different public schools in Pasay  including Philippine National School for the Deaf ( PNSD )  graced the event. “Boys and Girls Week” is a yearly celebration to promote good leadership among the youth in the City of Pasay aside from establishing camaraderie and rapport hoping to build a strong relationship for the future leaders. The First day of the  event started with an assembly led by the City Officials in the City Hall of Pasay with Hon. Mayor   AntoninoCalixto, Congw. Emi CalixtoRubiano and all the City councilors. After having the flag raising ceremony, Mr. and Ms. Travel City was introduced by  Congresswoman Calixto with the very special guest  Mr. Joey Sixto “Ding Dong” Dantes,  the YESPH Ambassador Student representatives  had their tour using their  passport stamps around Pasay City’s Hall Way Historical Pictures followed by the seminar  on several concerns and issues in Mayor’s Conference room with  Mr. Alex V. Castillo as the first speaker on the  topic about Good Leadership followed by Decision Making of a good leader, by Ms. Marra Alyssa Santiago and  lastly , Ms. Concepcion M. Macapagal’s  discussion the topic about  Social Media Literacy. On the 28th of November, the second day of Boys and Girls week celebration,  students attended the leadership seminar  at the DepEd Conference Room (Zamora Elementary School ) with  Usec.Tonisito M.C. Umali who  inspired the young representatives to be good leaders followed by  the discussion of “Filipino Millennials Decoded” by  Mr. Philip Sinlao ,SSG adviser from  KNHS . “Drug Awareness” was addressed by Ms.Socorro Domingo and Mrs. Leauvina D. Erni for “AngKasaysayan ng Pasay”.  The seminar was immediately followed by the Student Council Officers’ creation of political party where students were divided into two groups, ARIBA (Group A) and LODI (Group B) . The two groups  created their own platforms and selected their representatives for their  Mayor, Vice Mayor, Congressman and  14 councilors.  During the election proper, the SSG advisers from the different schools facilitated the election and proclamation process. On November 29, 2017, students attended again the  assembly at the Cuneta Astrodome Parking Area (Facing Roxas Blvd.) for the  “ Clean-up Drive” and the “ Tree Planting” Activities with JCI Perlas Pasay followed by tour on the offices of their counterparts including the elected and appointed student council officers led by the SHS OJT’s of Pasay City North Tramo. The staff of the Pasay Youth Development  Council (PYDC) toured the students at the  Avellana Art Gallery. Lastly, on the 1st of December, elected officers, department  heads, staff, SSG officers and  CIC officers joined the parade of HIV Awareness followed right after by high light of the week-long celebration,  the assumption of office by the student-leaders as counterparts of the duly elected City Officials of Pasay.

Annual Mass Induction held

Pasay City East High School held its Mass Induction  on August 2,2017 at the school’s Audio Visual Room headed by   the Department Heads , and club officers and  advisers. Mr. Bello Camacho, Head Teacher VI of the Filipino Dept. gave the inspirational message on behalf of Mr. Peter R. Cannon Jr., Principal III, who was on a meeting for school principals in the Schools Division Office.  The program led by  the Master of Ceremony , Ritz E. Espina of Grade 10-Rizal, started with the singing of the National Anthem followed by   the Doxology led by SSG officers and representatives , then the Pasay March. Student Supreme Government President , Andrea Sagay, emphasized  how young leaders can become instruments of change , “as the sun rises in the East,  we can change our campus today, we can change our nation tomorrow,”  to which everyone agreed. SSG and CIC member-representatives sang an intermission number combining the different songs of leadership—“Masterpiece”, “How far I’ll Go” — meant to inspire and motivate future leaders. After his message, Camacho led the oath taking  ceremony with the  club officers , club  advisers and  the Department Heads of PCEHS followed by the picture taking. “Always give your best shot, and leave the rest to God”, closing words of affirmation  from the SSG Vice- President, Francis Pontilla of Grade 10-Alonzo.

Pagtatapos ng  Buwan ng Nutrisyon

Sa pagtatapos ng Buwan ng Nutrisyon 2017 na may temang ‘’Healthy Diet Gawing Habit For Life” noong ika-30 ng hulyo 2017 na ginanap sa Audio Visual Room ng Mataas na Paaralang Silangan ng Lungsod ng Pasay. Pinangunahan ng mag-aaral mula sa baitang 10 pangkat Rizal na sina Meljhon Ordaniel at Janine Broncano ang naturang programa. Sinimulan ang  programa sa pag-awit ng Lupang Hinirang na sinundan ng Dasal na pinamunuan ni Patricia Galvez at ang pag awit ng Himno ng Pasay. Nagbigay rin si Ginoong Peter R. Cannon Jr. ng isang makabagbag damdaming mensahe para sa lahat ng mag-aaral na dumalo sa nasabing okasyon. GPTA officers for SY 2017-2018 elected 

Attended by elected GPTA classroom presidents from Grade 7 to Grade 10, the election of General Parents – Teachers Association’s new set of officers commenced last July  8 , 2017  in the school’s Audio Visual Room in the presence of  faculty members and department heads with Mr. Marvin Racines  as the Master of Ceremony. The assembly started with the Pambansang Awit followed by a prayer and the Pasay Hymn. Mrs. Marilou T. Cuenco, Head of the AP Dept  discussed the existing guidelines for the GPTA election. Assisted by Social Studies teachers, Mr. Racines facilitated the election proceedings. GPTA’s new set of officers: Mrs. Cindy Sagay, President;Mr.Bienvenido D. Gravador, Vice-President; Mrs. Jesusa A. Petalio, Secretary; Mrs. Jesusa T. Conte, Treasurer; and Mr. Arnold S. Calo, Auditor. Board of Directors consist of parents :Mrs. Cecile de Jesus, Mrs. Luzviminda D. Jamias, Mrs. Ma.Lyn S. Castor,Mrs. Lea A. Cipres, and Mr. John P. Sarmiento. Teachers elected as BOD’s are Mrs. Susan S. Babac,Mrs. Jocelyn M. Facelo,Ms. Leonida H. Serrano and Mr. Ranel C. Dain.  PCEHS Crusaders attend 3rd CIC Regional Congress

Pasay City East High School’s Crusaders attended the 3rd Campus Integrity Crusaders’ Congress aiming to empower the youth which was held in Philippine Science High School in Quezon City on February 15, 2017. CIC delegates present in the congress were Christine Ann Nanoy, Vice President; Ralph Kenneth Macaraeg, Grade 10 Representative, BenignaAlgo, Grade 9 Representative and Mrs. Jocelyn Focelo, Adviser – CIC PCEHS. Present during the congress were Atty. Rhodora N. Felix – Galicia, the OIC of Community Coordination Bureau , Evelyn A. Baliton, Assistant Ombudsman of the Public Assistance and Prevention Office and Hon. Melchor Arthur H. Carandang, Over – All Reputy Ombudsman, who were all beaming with pride seeing the full attendance of delegates or crusaders with their advisers. Senior Girl Scouts joins “Weekend Camp”

Senior Girl Scouts from Grade 7- 10  joined the yearly “Weekend Camp” with the theme : Free Being Me “ held in PCEHS school ground  on  Jan. 28,2017  headed by  Mrs. Mae D. Tupasi, Camp Director/Program Coordinator . The Kapers (term used for girl scouts ) had fun during the Friday evening activities( Jan. 27 ),  especially during the camp fire with the other teacher-scout masters:(Buss.Managers )Mrs. Susan B. Babac, Ms. Lenelyn Lopez ; ( Health Sanitation Officer ) Mrs. Primeriza Villaruel; (Camp Host), Ms. Esther Ariem;  ( Photographers ), Mrs. Rina Mendoza; ( Guider-in-charge ),Mrs. Chandrina Baysantos and Mrs. Thelma Ruby Macalinao ; and ( In-charge for food ), Mrs. Redesa Loterina . Saturday activities started with an early morning ( 5 A.M.) physical fitness  followed by breakfast, then the color ceremony  and the main activities which included Introduction about Free Being Me discussed by Ms. Mae Tupasi, Base 1- Image Myth, Base 2 – Image Myth , Base 2 – Bubble Massage , Base 3 – Mask Painting , and Base 4 – T- shirt lay-outing . Ms. Gerla Mateo, one of the trainers of GSP Pasay Council ,rendered voluntarily her service as the resource speaker about “The Scouting Movement”.  Mrs. Marina M. Magbago, GSP – Pasay Council President inspired the Kapers by emphasizing the role of girl scouts not only in school but in the community and the country. “Dapat kayo ang modelo hindi lang ng kapwa nyo scouts kundi ng lahat ng kabataan. Isabuhay ninyo ang lahat ng mabubuting gawain at kagandahang asal na natutunan ninyo,” Mrs. Magbago said. Mr. Peter R. Cannon, Principal III, reiterated that the Kapers must live up to the “Promise and Laws of the Girl Scout Movement”; that they must be the examples of  good character “ Ang tunay na kagandahan ay sa magandang ugali makikita,”his meaningful words for the Kapers. –Helen Dimafelix In his closing remarks, Mr. Baltazar Gonzaga meaningfully said  that  as the Weekend Camp aimed to develop young leaders, it should start in developing their self-confidence. Both Mr. Cannon and Mr. Gonzaga expressed their joy that PCEHS is  again active in the scouting movement   and they hope for more scouting activities in the future.

PCEHS qualifies in the “Division Search for “Best and Most Functional Learning Resource Center”

Pasay City East High School’ LRC made it to  the  final judging for the Division’s Search for Best and Most Functional Learning Resource Center and the School’s Reading Corners which  commenced last Feb. 10,2016 . The search aims to award/recognize the school’s efforts in enhancing and keeping up with the vision of providing quality resource materials through its library or Learning  Resource Center ( LRC ) in terms of accessibility, safety and security, maintenance and the extent of implementation utilization.  “ We are hoping to win in this search because all the concerned people with the full support of Mr. Peter R. Cannon, Principal III did their best in making it this far,” said Mrs. Thelma P. Magbago , PCEHS School Librarian. She also added , “ We are all looking forward to the announcement of winners soon. Win or lose ,we will continue to provide quality resource materials to our students and teachers.”

Eastians Math Wizards bag awards, MTAP Division elimination

Eastians Math wizards bagged top awards in the recently concluded MTAP 2017 Division Elimination held at Pasay City East High School,  February 17, 2017. Among the 6 public schools  in the Division of Pasay under Category A, Grade 10 contestants from PCEHS ranked 1st, Grade 9 also ranked  1st  while Grade 8 got the  2nd   and Grade 7 with the 3rd . The winning teams will compete for the Division Team Finals against contestants from the Divisions of Paranaque, Taguig/Pateros, Muntinlupa and Las Pinas. Mr and Ms Junior 2017, a showcase of beauty and talents

Jerick Crisostomo and Kyla Francine Ticman of Grade 10 – Bonifacio won the title Mr and Ms Junior 2017 respectively in the pageant held last March 3, 2017 at Pasay City East High School gymnasium. Grade 10 students from  18 sections vied for the title “Mr and Ms Junior 2017” where each showed what they got in the “Showcase of Talents” . Candidates were all elegant looking and oozing with confidence in the “Grand Entrance” as well as in the “Formal Wear Competition”. Each of the seven finalists smartly answered the questions during the  Q and A portion which proved that the pageant wasn’t just about looks but also intelligence. “If I would be given a chance to have three wishes…one will be peace and unity for my country and my countrymen, second, good relationship with  God as He is the center of our family , and lastly, for myself to inspire others by doing good and studying hard ,”  Kyla Ticman, Ms. Junior 2017. PCEHS wins 12 NCCT awards

Selected students from Grade 9- Mangga and Grade 10- Rizal won 12 awards in the 3-day free media literacy orientation services entitled: Rights Camera Action! :Television and Video Production Workshop for Children and KatuwangAko Ng MakabatangTelebisyon : An Orientation on Smart Television Parenting conducted by the National Council for Children’s Television ( NCCT ) held in Pasay City North High School- Main campus last February 27 – march 2, 2017. The workshop was geared towards giving young students the knowledge, skills and experience in Basic Scriptwriting, Basic Videography , Video Production Process and Basic Editing . Participants from each schools in Cluster 10 ( Pasay City North High School, Corazon national High School and Pasay City East High School ) did well in their friendly competition for the individual and group categories. “BULABOG” by Children First Production (group) of Grade 10 Rizal won Best Video and “POSPORO” by MEMA Production also from Grade 10 Rizal won 3rd Place in the Best Video Category (group). Nicka Joy Algo Individual winners in the different categories were: Jade Ann Quebec – Best Production Design Jessica Castor – Best Screen Play and 2nd Best Director Rio Noreen Glino – Best Editing Best Actress – Nicka Joy Algo Christine Mae Laguna – 2nd Best Videography Mark Aurelio Bagazin – 3rd Best Videography Angelica Louisse Bognot – 3rd Best Director

14th SOCCA, CALIXTO Assures Children’s Health

Mayor Antonino G. Calixto assures children’s rights in the 14th State of City ChildrenAddress (SOCCA  last Nov. 11, 2016 at the Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City. Through the  SOCCA, Pasayenos are well informed about the programs, achievements and successes of  the City Government of Pasay  much more , its future plans in making  the quality of education for the Children of Pasay at par with its Asian counterparts. The 14th SOCCA  was themed “ISULONG: KALIDAD NG EDUKASYON PARA SA LAHAT NG MGA BATA” which aimed to promote high standard of education for all the youth of Pasay ; to  provide the children their needs; to address their  mental and health problems and at the same time to end cases of child abuses. “Aside from providing the children the quality education, we also want to make sure that the children are physically and mentally healthy so that they will learn their lessons well inside the classroom”. Calixto said. In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the city government assures the health and nutrition programs are implemented: new born screening, expanded program on immunization, micronutrients deficiencies prevention and control program, better oral health for the community, infant and young children nutrition, operation timbang plus, food supplementation program, integrated management of childhood illness, and control of tuberculosis in children. The Mayor encouraged the students, the parents, the whole community of Pasay to cooperate with the government so that all plans and programs of the city will be successful. Calixto encouraged everyone to cooperate and work hand in hand with the city government of Pasay. He also showcased the improvements of Pasay with the continuing support of the local government by providing new school buildings with complete facilities and by giving scholarships programs for deserving students. Apart from the programs for the youth, the mayor also introduced its housing program for teachers. Cannon delivers SOSA

Peter R. Cannon ,Principal III of Pasay City East High School delivers the historic State of the School Address (SOSA) with the  aim to inform the stakeholders about the growth, achievements and future plans of the school administration .   Through a power point presentation, Cannon proudly discussed the school’s achievements starting from the increase in the enrollment for 3 consecutive academic years and looking forward to a continuous growth particularly in Grades 11 and 12. Cannon  showed the Nutrition Health Status as well as the success of the school’s feeding program where the beneficiaries are the selected 50 Grade 7 students and 22 Grade 8 students based from reported  nutritional status and he emphasized that the 35%  combined profit of the School Managed canteen and the School’s Cooperative is allocated for the program . He encouraged parents to allow their children to avail of free vaccination and other medical activities/services offered and supervised by the professional doctors and nurses from the medical team of the Division of Pasay as he also reiterated   that almost 95 % of Grade 7 students were vaccinated, 1000 were de-wormed and 90 students were given anti-tetanus vaccine. An update was made regarding the improvement of the air conditioned Learning Resource Center monitored by CCTV camera and 14 newly installed computer units with internet and printers which are available for all learners and teachers. “The school library is nominated for the ‘Most Outstanding Library’,” Cannon proudly announced. Cannon reiterated that these achievements are not possible  without the support of the Local Government headed by City Mayor Antonino “ Tony” Calixto and Congrsswoman Emi CalixtoRubiano who had the biggest part in the school improvement in terms of facilities both for  the Junior and Senior High School programs. Cannon also mentioned the achievements and  awards received by PCEHS students from different grade levels : First Place in Summer Reading Camp 2016; 4thPlace in NCR BrigadaEskwela ( 2nd Place, Division Level), 3rd Place in Caltex; First Place in Clash of Class held at Ocean Park; Division Press Conference Winners:Vergel  C. Moreover, he discussed the reasons of drop out where family problem ranked first followed by lack of interest, distance of school, illness, work and early pregnancy , which he followed up with an appeal to parents to build communication with their children  because it is the key to a good relationship as he also encouraged them to guide the young and lead them to a bright future .  20th APHCA Hair Olympics held

The  Asia Pacific Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association ( APHCA ) held its 20th Hair Olympics at SMX Convention Center ,MOA last Oct. 26,2016. Present in the formal opening and ribbon cutting were Senator Bam Aquino, Pasay City First Lady Edna Calixto, former First lady Ming Ramos, businessman Hans Sy and Sri lankan Ambassador AruniRanaraja. The APHCA was formed in 1997 by a group of international  and local professionals in the beauty industry to organize international events and be able to share knowledge, creativity and ideas among its  member countries. APHCA  Annual International event dubbed as “Hair Olympics “ is usually held in different APHCA member countries. Since the establishment of APHCA in 1997,members took turns in hosting the international event  : Taiwan,1999 and 2015; Thailand,2002 and 2014 ;Malaysia, 2012 ;Indonesia, 2011 ;Macau , 2001 and 2010 ; South Korea, 1997 and 2009 ; Philippines, 1998 and 2008 ; China, 2007; Japan, 2006; Mongolia , 2000 and 2005; Australia, 2004 ; Sri Lanka , 2003 . More than 1,000 participants from the Asia Pacific Region, around 5,000local hairdressers, trade visitors and Tech-Voc students joined the prestigious event. Through the generosity of Mr. Peter R. Cannon, Principal III of PCEHS, Mrs. Alicia Dela Pena, EPS- TLE/HE, and SDS, Dr. Evangeline P. Ladines, CESO VI, SHS from Grade 11- Diamond had the opportunity to attend the event and  considered the experience one of a kind as they witnessed how  different models from 18 countries performed in different categories : Men’s Cut and Blow-Dry, Avant- Garde , Evening Party Make-up, Bridal make – Up, Evening Party Hairstyle and Nail Art. Macau was the Over – all Champion in the Olympics. Native cultural dances were performed by  the delegates from Korea, China, Japan, Thailand and Philippines . The event was culminated with Ricky Reyes handing over the APHCA flag to South Korean leader Eung Soo Kang as Korea will host the 21st  Hair Olympics in 2017.

SHS Students Win Free Trainings

SHS students win free trainings in the 3-day Free Technical Seminar and Exhibit of the Philippine Welding Society (PWS) last October 6, 7, and 8, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. SHS Salvador N. Buenavista and Edmond Samillano, both  from Grade 11 Sapphire won 20,000 peso worth of training for Gas Tungsten Arc Welding  ( GTAW ) and 12,000 peso worth Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. Topics such as Welding Practitioners’ Guide to the Fundamentals of Surface Flaw Detection, Augmented Reality Training for Welding, Train Blended, Train Better: Improving Student Outreach and Engagement, Power wave Equipment for Asian Skills in World Skills, Welding Engineering, Welder’s Qualification, Corrosion of Welding, The Fuel Cylinder in Welding Plasma  and Cutting Application, Safety in Welding and Cutting and Allied Process, Risk Management and its Application to Cutting and Welding, and the Extent of Inspection in Welding Operations were successfully presented by experts and practitioners.

Iraola wins 7th place in NSSPC 2017

Pasay City East High School’s very own Allen Iraola of Grade – 10 Rizal won 7th place in Editorial Cartooning in Filipino in the recently concluded National Secondary Schools Press Conference (NSSPC) held at Saint Columban College, Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur, Region IX last January24,2017. Mr. Peter R. Cannon, Principal III of PCEHS had no hesitation in providing moral and financial support for Allen O. Iraola’s stint in the NSSPC with high hopes for the win. The conference was attended by student-delegates who were all regional winners (1st-3rd) in the different individual and group categories(1st only) during the Regional Secondary Schools Press Conference (held by region) in the 17 regions in the country . All regional winners competed for the national level during the 5-day conference, Jan.22-25, 2017.
