Margarita Jaice M. Trinidad (Student-Journalist) and Jonel P. Siervo (Student-Journalist) from Pasay City East High School joined the Department of Education (DepEd) the 3-Day Virtual Interactive Celebration of the Earth Day 2021 with the theme “PINASiglang Mundo”, aimed to reinforce the “Makakalikasan” core value among learners and stakeholders, April 20-22,2021.
During the 3-Day celebration, Trinidad was assigned to write news article about a panel discussion on schools’ best practices focusing on the elimination of the single-use plastics in schools and in the community held last April 21, 2021.
Trinidad and Siervo, Grade 10 students highlighted in their news the “Tumbler Challenge that Changed Me”, “Good Practices in Ecological Waste Management”, and “Zero-Waste School” , shared by Anna Lisa R. Villuanueva, Principal of Jose P. Rizal Elementary School, SDO Dasmariñas; Sherry T. Rodriguez, Langkaan Elementary School Principal, SDO Dasmariñas, and , Cristeta S. Uy, Principal III of San Vicente Integrated High School, SDO San Pablo.
The Earth Day Online Celebration aims to promote environmental protection among stakeholders, encourage more learners and personnel to be engaged in environmental actions, and provide a platform for learners to showcase their commitment to Earth restoration.
Usec. Josephine Maribojoc, DepEd Undersecretary for Legal Affairs appealed to everyone to restore balance, harmony, and order in nature. She reiterated that people must learn about the world’s ecosystem to improve farming practices, restore wildlife and reduce ocean plastics apart from promoting sustainable gardening in schools that give life lessons learned in the classroom, showing acts of caring about nature, fully committing oneself in respecting the laws of nature which govern all humanity and restoring the Earth as rational beings of nature. She ended by emphasizing how to foster love for humanity, for nature as the human race survives could save the planet.
The National Earth Day Online Celebration was organized by the Bureau of Learner Support Services – Youth Formation Division (BLSS-YFD), Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS), DepEd Region IV-A, and Schools Division Office (SDO) of Dasmariñas City with the support of the Public Affairs Service (PAS) and in partnership with World Wildlife Fund for Nature Philippines, Greenpeace Philippines, City of Dasmariñas and Dasca Fiber Blaze. Pasay City East High School (PCEHS), successfully commemorated and participated in the Virtual Symposium as a tribute to the 123rd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with a diplomatic reception on June 11, 2021, with the theme , “Kalayaan 2021: Diwa ng Kalayaan sa Pagkakaisa at Paghilom ng Bayan (Spirit of Freedom in Unity and National Healing)” held live at the Division of Pasay City Facebook page from 1PM to 5PM.
This annual event was spawned with a heart-warming greeting reception by Dr. Loreta B. Torrecampo, CESO V, Schools Division Schools Superintendent of the Division of City School, Pasay.
Torrecampo encouraged the guests, including the officials of the local government, stakeholders, teachers, parents, and learners to be part of the online celebration of Independence Day.
In his opening remarks, Department of Education (DepEd) National Capital Region (NCR), Regional Director Mr. Wilfredo E. Cabral emphasized, “Mahigit na pong isang taon na nakaranas ng pagsubok dahil sa pandemiya. Subalit, ang simposyum na ito, sa ating paniniwala, ang magbibigay ng higit na kaalaman at dagdag na pagbabalik-tanaw sa ating mga kakayahan bilang isang Pilipino.”.
Moreover, Secretary Briones urged the Filipinos to be glad that even in symposium we are still able to appreciate the essence of independence in the time of pandemic.,
Briones believes that celebrations and reflections on independence should not be limited only to the usual and ritual flag raising but should include discussions, debates, and reflections among Filipinos about independence.
The virtual symposium was followed by a serenade and soul-calming makabayan song entitled “Dakilang Lahi” performed by Junbeth B. Santos, a MAPEH teacher from Pres. Corazon “Cory” C. Aquino NHS.
Xiao Chua, Professor from De La Salle University under the Department of History discussed “TAGUMPAY NG BAYAN: Kwento ng Kasarinlan Matapos ang 300-Taong Kolonyalismo,” followed by a panel discussion on “Mga Batas, Alituntunin at iba pang Karagdagang Kaalaman ukol sa Araw ng Kalayaan” led by Tonisito M.C. Umali, Deputy Secretary Legislative Affairs, External Partnerships and Project Management Service, before the Round Table Discussion about the Philippine heroes stepping up to the plate and Independence Day commemoration by Leuvina D. Erni , EPS of Araling Panlipunan, Pasay Division and Dr. Felina P. Patagan, Principal 1 of PCEHS.
The celebration ended with a farewell remarks by Edel B. Carag, Director III, External Partnership Service, “Just a simple recall from what we heard sa mga mensahe ng ating mga panauhin at sa ating mga mahuhusay na tagapagsalita, Mr. Toni and Professor Xiao Chua, the traditional Philippine independence after being colonized by many nations in the past centuries is one of the most treasured milestones the we Filipinos achieve in the history,” she said heartwarmingly.
Highlighting the role of Science and Research in addressing present global challenges and issues, Pasay City East High School actively engaged in the 3-day virtual National Science and Technology Fair (NSTF) for School Year 2020-2021 of the Department of Education (DepEd).
With the theme, “Agham, Pananaliksik, at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Matatag at Maunlad na Pamayanan,” the learners were able to showcase their resiliency, innovation, and creativity amidst global crisis through virtual Science fair and competitions.
There were several categories under “SCIEN-TERRIFIC AMIDST PANDEMIC” namely: Online Sci-Quiz Bee from grades 7-11, Digital Poster Making Contest, Science Concept QuickShare, and On the S.P.P.O.T. (On the Science Processes and Practices On-Site Test).
Contestants from PCEHS competed against participants from the public and private high schools in the Division of Pasay from June 3, 4, and 7, 2021 on separate google meet per category.
The winners and their trainers were awarded via Facebook Live last June 7, 2021.

Mendoza as Coach (1st Place, Popular Vote; 3rd Place Final Stage- Science Concept Quickshare, Junior High School category which garnered 2.4k likes and 11k shares on the video perception of the Chaos Theory ; Ronian M. Hamol-Awon trained by Ms. Mary April Z. Tomagan (4th Place in Online Science-Quiz Bee- JHS Grade 7; Franchesca Gyle A. Yacap mentored by Mrs. Ma. Corazon A. PCEHS joins the National Earthquake Drill
Holding on to its strong conviction to boost disaster awareness and preparedness in the school and the community, PCEHS joined the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill ( NSED ) held Thursday, February 21, 2019 at exactly 2 pm.
Mr. Peter R. Cannon , Principal III, spearheaded the drill together with the stakeholders led by the teachers and the DRRM coordinator , Edgardo Templanza, Teacher II.
Students showed cooperation and participation in the whole duration of the drill which proved PCEHS’ commitment to instill familiarization and responsibility among students, teachers, administrators on what to do before, during, and after an earthquake.
The NESD aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the contingency plans and protocols of the government in relation to earthquake eventualities.-by HGDimafelix
“Top Scorers” , Mathletes qualify in the 2019 MMC Regional Individual Competition
Mathletes of Pasay City East High School were qualified to compete for category A in the Regional Individual Finals of “2019 Metrobank – MTAP Deped Math Challenge “ held on February 2, 2019 at Cecilio Apostol Elem. School, Caloocan City.
With the theme,” Mathematics for International Competitiveness”, finalists from Grade 7 Narra , Jeeros Karl L. Sabio and Francesca Nicole E. Dulva ; from Grade 8 Mangga, Numan Alan C. Alam; from Grade 9 Sampaguita , Jason D. Corpuz and Grade 10 Rizal Christine Ray L. Early registration for SY 2019-2020 opens
Pursuant to DepEd Order (DO) No. 3, s.2018, otherwise known as the “Basic Education Enrolment Policy”, early registration for SY 2019-2020 opened from January 26 to February 22, 2019 in PCEHS aiming at consolidating various issuances on enrolment, and institutionalizing a basic education enrollment process for the incoming Grade 7 and Grade 11 learners.
The month long initiative aims to ensure that all new entrants are registered for School Year 2019 – 2020 , and to help the Department to better address and prepare for possible issues and concerns during the enrolment proper.
The registration also ensures that out-of-school youth in the community are also located , identified , and encouraged to go back through the formal system, Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM), or the Alternative Learning System (ALS),

PCEHS bags awards in MTAP
Eastians Math Wizards bagged awards in (MTAP) Mathematics Teachers Association of the Phils. Division Elimination at Pasay City South High School last January 18,2019.
Out of five secondary schools in the Division of Pasay, Grade 7 and 9 contestants ranked 1st while Grade 8 and 10 ranked 2nd in Category A .
The winning team competed in the MTAP Division Team Orals against the teams from the Division of Paranaque, Muntinlupa , Taguig/Pateros and Las Pinas last Feb. 8, 2019 at Muntinlupa Science High School.
Individual winners Christine Ray L. Givertz , Grade 10 Rizal ; Jason D. Corpuz , Grade 9 Sampaguita ; Alam Numan Grade 10 ; Jeeros Karl Sabio and Francesca Nicole Dulva , Grade 7 Narra were qualified for the MTAP Regional Written Competition .By Cyren Gongay ,G-10 Rizal .
PCEHS Christmas 2017 : A Celebration of Giving, Loving and Sharing

Faculty Club and Employees Association of Pasay City East High School headed by its president, Ms. Floresa Sy, celebrated Christmas 2017 last December 21,2017 with the theme: East Giving, East Loving and East Sharing.
The celebration was well attended by the teachers from the Junior and Senior High School Department, the school staff, the administrators together with Mr. Peter R. Cannon , Jr, Principal III.
Checking of attendance by each department was in the form of a yell or song and dance interpretation which made the gathering a lovely and lively fun-filled Christmas event.
Hosted by Mr. Brian Cipriano and Mrs. Helen G. Dimafelix, club’s Auditor and Secretary respectively, the gathering was highlighted by the raffle of prizes and the parlor games.
Mr. Cannon was in his lively self while hosting the parlor game he called “Meron o Wala” as well as the “Bring Me’’ which turned the house with so much fun and laughter as Mr. Ruell Santero , Assistan Principal , of Senior High School, showed his funny lovable side.
The Faculty Club will always be grateful for the time and efforts of the teachers/singers from the different departments who sincerely joined the caroling activities done in the evenings of Fridays and Saturdays to raise funds for the Christmas event.
The donations of gifts and cash were overflowing from the good people around who truly loved and cared for the cause of PCEHS and the teachers and employees.
