IKEA donates for PCEHS library make over

IKEA Philippines officially turned over 396, 000 worth of furniture donations to Pasay City East High School Library during the Social Day and Turn Over Ceremony held at the PCEHS Gymnasium last August 15, 2024.
Mr. Rouell A. Santero, Principal II of PCEHS welcomed the IKEA Philippines, mWell, and Gabay Guro. He thanked IKEA for the partnership and for a free make over of the school’s library. Mr. Sylwyn S. Tenorio, Senior Education Program Specialist –Social Mobilization & Networking, gave the words of gratitude.
Mr. Daniel Rivero, Pasay City Store Manager, IKEA Philippines, in his response message said that IKEA Philippines was thankful for the opportunity to bring the company closer to the people and give back to the community.
Gabay Guro and mWell were represented respectively by Mr. Francis A. Bautista, Program Manager and Mr. Gary Dujali, Marketing Head. Freebies from these partners were given to attendees before the program. Dr. Basilisa D. Tomimbang, Public Schools District Supervisor-
CLUSTER 10, gave the closing remarks in the program.
The ceremony was attended by the SDO officials, PCEHS teaching and non teaching personnel, SPTA president, and selected PCEHS students. It was hosted by Mrs. Karen V. Mortera.

SDO Pasay conducts 4-day upskilling on Language Instruction
In response to DepEd Order no. 42, s.2017, which emphasizes the importance of teachers’ continuous professional development in enhancing their pedagogical practices, SDO Pasay conducted a “4-Day Cascading of the Upskilling of English Teachers on Language Instruction”, on Nov. 26-29 at Asia Pacific College (APC), Makati City.
A total of 148 secondary and elementary teachers combined from Clusters 1-10 attended the aforementioned upskilling seminar/workshop which seeks to address the critical needs of teachers in language instructions.
Dr. Imelda V. Boquiren,SDO Pasay English Education Program Supervisor, presented the overview of the upskilling and discussed the topics on “Raising the Bar, Lowering the Barriers in English Language Instruction” and “Revisiting Communicative Competence: Understanding the K-10 Matatag Curriculum in English” for Day 1 and 2.
Mrs. Almera M. Alkuino, Head Teacher III of Pasay City North High School-M Dela Cruz campus showed her expertise in her topic, “Understanding and Applying Grammatical Competence in Language Instruction” as shown in active participation of the language teachers in their presentations and delivery of outputs.
Mrs. Marlyn A. Mamadod, Head Teacher VI, Pasay City East High School, talked about “Understanding Strategic Competence in Language Instruction” which focused on the importance of strategic competence and its underlying principles, core strategies and its applications and development of positive attitude in addressing communication barriers.
Mrs. Yolanda M. Marinay, Head Teacher III, Kalayaan National High School, displayed her eloquence on the topics: “Applying Socio-Linguistic Competence in Language Instruction” and “Applying Discourse Competence in Language Instruction”.
Dr. Amelyn L. Villanueva, Head Teacher VI, Pasay City South High School, concentrated her discussion on Understanding Socio-Linguistic Competence in Language Instruction with application of principles various contexts gearing towards acceptance of one’s responsibility in enhancing own’s socialinguistic competence to help build efficient learning community.

Pasay City East High School launched its National Reading Month 2024 with the theme: “Embarking on a Journey of Empowering Literacy” on November 7, 2024 at the school gymnasium. Mrs. Marlyn A. Mamadod, Head Teacher VI of the English Department, led the event with the English teachers, school officials and students present.
